Introduction

Craftsman’s ongoing commitment to protect the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information is addressed in this Privacy Policy. Our policy is designed to comply with the requirements of the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

The Privacy Policy explains our commitment to respect and protect your personal information. We want you to know why we need your personal information, how the confidentiality of this information is protected, and how you can find out what information concerning you is recorded.

Please note that, Craftsman reviews and updates this Privacy Policy from time to time as needed without notice. Therefore, you should review the terms of this policy periodically to make sure that you are aware of how Craftsman collects, uses and discloses personal information.

Accountability

Craftsman is responsible for your personal information under its control. We have appointed a Privacy Officer who is accountable for Craftsman’s compliance to this Privacy Policy.

Personally Identifiable Information

You have complete control over your personal information. In general, you can visit our web site without providing us with any personal information. Any information that we require from you we will endeavor to inform you as to the purpose and use of said information and seek your written consent where appropriate. This information may include registration data (your name, address, email address, phone number, fax number, etc.),

Personal Information

Personal information is the recorded information that relates to you as an individual, that identifies you as a client of Craftsman, and that allows us to provide services and information directly to you. We ask you for your personal information so that we can:

a) fulfill insurance company requirements; b) open a file for services; c) determine if our services met your needs; d) meet our contractual or service obligations to you; e) inform you of upcoming events; f) comply with the law; and g) fulfill Motor Vehicle Act requirements.

Of course, you can choose not to provide us with some or all of your personal information. However, this choice may not enable us to provide you with the service or information that you requested or that could be offered to you.

Consent

Your knowledge and consent are required by PIPA for some of the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information. We endeavor to collect, use, or disclose personal information only for purposes we believe you would consider appropriate under the circumstances and to meet our contractual obligations to you.

Service Providers

Our safeguards endeavor to protect personal information against loss or theft, regardless of the format in which it is held.

Except as set out in this policy, or as required by law, Craftsman does not sell or disclose any of your personal information to any other organization and Craftsman will not endeavor to transmit personal information to third parties without first obtaining your written consent to do so. Craftsman may, however, disclose information in the following cases:

a) to our lawyer; b) to a person authorised by law or legal collective agreement; c) in emergency situations in which the life, health or safety of a person is in danger; d) to an authorised contractor providing service to you; e) to credit grantors and reporting agencies if applicable for bill collection purposes; f) when it is in your best interest for us to meet our obligations to you; g) to a person who, in the reasonable judgement of Craftsman, is seeking information as your agent; or h) a third party or parties, where you consent to such disclosure.

Limiting Collection

We only collect the information that we need in order to deliver services and information to you. We do not use techniques to collect personally identifiable information about you without your knowledge. We do not use or disclose your personal information for any purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with your consent, an exception under PIPA or as required by applicable laws.

Retention

Your personal information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes. Craftsman does not keep your personal information if it is no longer needed for the purposes required for standard business practices or as required by law.

Safeguards

Your personal information is secure within Craftsman. We have comprehensive security controls to protect against non-authorised access, use, alteration, duplication, destruction, or disclosure. We protect your personal information by using safeguards that are appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. If users have any questions about any of our safeguards please feel free to contact our Privacy Officer, whose contact information is at the end of this policy.

Web Site

This policy discloses the privacy practices for our Web site. However, our site contains links to other sites. Once you link to another site, you are subject to the privacy and security policies of the new site. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of all third party web sites you visit, especially if you share any personal information. Even if the third party is affiliated with Craftsman through a business partnership or otherwise, Craftsman is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices or the content of such external links. These links are provided to you for convenience purposes only and you access them at your own risk.

Technical Information

As part of the normal functioning of the internet, the web server(s) on which this site resides collect technical information such as the date and time of each visit, the visitor’s unique address on the internet (known as the IP address), the type of web browser the visitor is using, and the platform (such as Windows or Mac) the visitor is using. The web server(s) may also record the page the visitor was viewing just before coming to the web site (the “referrer”), if the visitor’s web browser provides this information.

This information is logged and the logs may be analyzed in an aggregate fashion to better understand the visitors and the way they interact with the web site. This information will be used to improve the web browsing experience of the visitors and will never be sold or redistributed unless required by law. In general, personal information that is collected is used only in ways that are necessary for the proper functioning of the web site or in ways that are specifically indicated on pages where the visitor is asked to provide the information.

Online Employment Application

The employment information collected through the Craftsman’s web page is reasonably protected and only used for the purpose of hiring or managing potential employees.

Craftsman’s Employees

Each of our employees is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all personal information to which they have access. We keep our employees informed about our policies and procedures for protecting personal information.

All of our users’ information is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Our employees must use employee user identification codes and passwords to access this information in our secure administration system.

Customer Access

Upon request in writing, you will be informed of the existence, use, and disclosure of your personal information and you will be given access to that information. We will assist any customer who informs us that they need assistance in preparing a request concerning personal information. You may challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate.

If you wish to review or verify the personal information in your file or find out to whom we have disclosed it, you can do so by writing to us at the addresses below. Craftsman has thirty (30) days to reply to a request for access to a file. Craftsman can refuse access to a file in certain circumstances and will advise you accordingly.

A fee may be quoted to you for access in certain circumstances.

Accuracy

You can ask to delete or correct any information contained in your file. The request for correction must be made by writing to us, either by mail, fax or by e-mail at the contact information below. Craftsman has thirty (30) days to reply.

You can address any challenges concerning our compliance with this policy to our Craftsman Privacy Officer.
