Keeping customer safety top of mind with DrivePur

Provides a long lasting clean, for $99

Returning sparkling clean vehicles to their owners has always been part of the service at Craftsman Collision. Now Western Canada’s largest bodyshop chain has teamed up with Viral Defense Solutions’ DrivePur sanitization treatment to take cleanliness to a new, microscopic level.

Joining a growing group of North American bodyshops, Craftsman is the first bodyshop chain in Western Canada to offer the DrivePur treatment, and the only chain to offer it at all its locations.

Fresch kill rate of 99.99% for viruses and bacteria

The two-stage application begins with DrivePur’s Fresch™ antiseptic – 100% natural eucalyptus oil that has a kill rate of 99.99% for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) and other viruses, as well as other pathogens including Staph, MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus), mold and bacteria. That application is followed by a water-based, non-toxic spray with a titanium dioxide formula widely used in hospital operating rooms and ICUs. It creates a nano-thin antimicrobial coating that helps prevent viruses, bacteria, mold and allergens from attaching to the vehicle’s interior surfaces for up to six months. All vehicle contact surfaces are treated, including steering wheel, dashboard, consoles, door handles, trunk interior and latch. Craftsman has applied the two-stage DrivePur treatment to its 600 plus replacement vehicle fleet and is offering it to customers for $99.

In nano-sized particle form, titanium dioxide exhibits photocatalytic activity when exposed to natural light, sterilizing and deodorizing microbes that contact it for up to six months. Vehicle owners receiving the treatment are advised not to use disinfecting chemicals or products containing more than 70% alcohol to clean their vehicle’s surfaces, because doing so could weaken or cancel the formula’s pathogen-killing properties.

DrivePur is a non-toxic sanitization and sterilizing treatment

DrivePur started in the U.S. in 2008 as a non-toxic cleaning and sterilizing treatment for hospitals, offices, vehicle interiors and other environments where harsh chemicals are not welcome. Customer safety is always top of mind at Craftsman, so we have applied the DrivePur Treatment to our 500 plus feet of replacement vehicles at no extra charge to the customer.

“We’re very excited to be launching this service, especially in light of the pandemic,” says Craftsman president Rick Hatswell. “With everyone so
concerned about sanitization, I think many, if not most, of our customers will opt for it. I wish we could offer it to everyone who wants it, but for now only Craftsman customers getting their vehicles repaired are eligible.”

The DrivePur treatment is available at all 42 Craftsman Collision locations in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

  1. Hello,

What all included in your $49 package?

    • Thank you for reaching out. Please visit our website for a great article with links about the DrivePur Treatment: https://www.craftsmancollision.com/uncategorized/covid-free-vehicle-new-drivepur-sanitization-treatment/. The service take approx. 1 hour and it is a two stage treatment. The first treatment uses a registered botanical disinfectant called Fresch that has a 99.9% kill rate of bacteria, germs, viruses, mold and fungus. The second step uses a anti-microbial solution -Titanium Dioxide that attaches to the surfaces of your vehicle and does not allow germs and other pathogens to attach for up to 6 months. Typically the service is only offered to our customers getting autobody repairs, however if you are just wanting the DrivePur service please contact a Craftsman Collision near you and they will book you in for the service. Please note that your vehicle and trunk area does need to be empty of any personal items, garbage, etc. as we treat both the interior of the vehicle, trunk and high touch points on the vehicle exterior. If your vehicle is excessively dirty there may be an additional cleaning fee added to the $49 price. If You need any further information please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at scook@craftsmancollision.com.

  2. Hi,

Can you tell me more about this? This procedure sanitize then protects for several months after? Also it is not specific for COVID? Is this only available for your customers or anyone can book a time to go in and get the treatment?

    • Hi Lucy

Thank you for reaching out. We typically like to offer the treatment to customers who are getting repairs and that it just purely because we are concerned about our day being filled with just doing DrivePur Treatments to people’s vehicles when we are truly in the business of doing collision repairs. But yes we can offer the service without repair. We have a great article with links on our website where you can find out more info. The product has been around since 2008 and is a proven product. But yes the first step in the treatment uses a product called Fresch it has a kill rate of 99.99% for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) as well as other germs, bacteria, fungus, mold, etc. The second step is a water-based, non-toxic spray with a titanium dioxide formula widely used in hospital operating rooms and ICUs. It creates a nano-thin antimicrobial coating that helps prevent viruses, bacteria, mold and allergens from attaching to the vehicle’s interior surfaces for up to six months. Titanium dioxide is truly a wonder of mother nature. If you would like to get the treatment done please contact one of our 41 locations and let them know that you spoke with Stacey Cook, Marketing Manager. You will need to make an appointment to receive the DrivePur Treatment. If I can be of further assistance please let me know.

      Thank you

    • Morning Lucy,

Yes the DrivePur Treatment is a 2 step process. The first step in the treatment uses a product called Fresch non-toxic and environmentally friendly(registered disinfectant with Health Canada) it has a kill rate of 99.99% for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) as well as other germs, bacteria, fungus, mold, etc. The second step is the secret sauce, that is a titanium dioxide formula that is sprayed on all your vehicles surfaces. Titanium Dioxide is an amazing product of mother nature. There is lots of information on it on the Internet if you wish to find out more. This spray attaches to all your surfaces in the interior of your vehicle including your trunk and high touch points on the outside of your vehicle. This coating doesn’t allow harmful pathogens to attach to the surfaces. It stays active using UV light for up to 6 months. The key is to not use Lysol products or similar toxic products including products with more than 70% alcohol in them. The reason is it will strip the DrivePur Treatment from your vehicle surfaces. You can vacuum your car, you can wipe the dash with soap and water or use “green” products. It is also okay to have hand sanitizer on your hands when putting your hands on the steering wheel this is because hand sanitizer is not more than 70% alcohol. So the DrivePur will remain on your steering wheel as well. Eventually with time is will break down and then you will have to come back for another treatment. You may be able to go longer than 6 months but it is recommended to get a reapplication at or just before 6 months. Our preference is for customers to receive the DrivePur Treatment with collision repairs. However, If you do not need collision repairs at this time we are happy to provide you with just the service. Please contact a location near you and they will be happy to help you.

      • Hi Stacey, I understand you use a registered disinfectant in Canada, but can you confirm your “secret sauce” has a registered pesticide number for Canada. I wanted to get DrivePur done a few years ago but did not because it was not registered. Thanks

  3. What is DrivePur Canadian registration number as a disinfectant? I could not find it online when looking as I would not want to use a unregistered product on my family van. Thanks Tiffany

    • Hi Tiffany,

Thank you for your interest in the DrivePur Treatment. I have reached out to the supplier of DrivePur requesting the information you are looking for. I will circle back to you as soon as I have the needed information. Thank you for your interest in DrivePur and Craftsman Collision.
