Craftsman raises $31,658 in 2012 Food Drive
Vancouver – It was another successful year for Craftsman’s annual Making a Dent food drive. Held on Saturday, September 15th from 1:00-5:00 p.m., Craftsman, Save-On Foods and Price Smart Foods teamed up with The Salvation Army to raise $31,658 in cash and food items.
Craftsman matched every item donated, so that for every can donated by a participating customer, two cans of soup made it onto a shelf at a local Salvation Army Family Services unit.
The Salvation Army says demand in every British Columbia community this year has risen this year as more families have come to rely on its services to put food on the table. On top of that, many food banks throughout the province have had trouble stocking their shelves in these difficult economic times.
Upon entering participating locations, customers received shopping lists of ideal non-perishable food items to shop for and donate. The 2012 Making a Dent total was $6,658 higher than Craftsman’s 2011 total, and exceeded our goal of $30,000.
Shopping list of suggested items of need include:
- Canned Fruit
- Peanut Butter
- Hamburger Helper
- Cake Mix (dry)
- Canned meat (ham,tuna,salmon)
- Canned vegetables
- Pasta/Tomato Sauce
