What our employees have to say

01

I knew nothing about cars when I joined as an operations trainee, but with the support and patience of the team I was able to gain knowledge and make progress. Craftsman’s training helps employees learn about the repair process – from a customer point of view as well as from colleagues sharing their experiences and solutions to various situations. Moving forward, I expect continued support from Craftsman, and would tell anyone thinking of working here that it’s a great place to learn. Everyone is willing to help out and make you feel welcome to the team.

I joined Craftsman as a detailer in a high school practicum 14 years ago. From there I worked in the parts department, learned how to estimate, and became assistant manager. I am now part of the support centre team as operations support coordinator. My journey has been exciting with lots of growth. There’s something here for anyone who’s interested in the automotive industry – many departments to choose from and lots of opportunities for advancing your career.

I started with the company as a part-time detailer in high school. When I went to VCC (Vancouver Community College) for my first year apprenticeship, Craftsman paid for my education and offered me a job when I successfully completed it. With the support of the Colwood Manager, I became an estimator and was also able to work in the shop as a tech. Performing different roles has been extremely rewarding while satisfying my curiosity about the many aspects of the autobody repair industry. And the support from Craftsman in all my roles has been great.

After almost 13 years, I feel like I’ve grown up at Craftsman. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have done my apprenticeship here, and extremely fortunate to have had an exceptional journeyman to mentor and challenge me. I wouldn’t be the painter I am today if he hadn’t taken the time to show me the way. If you work hard and have a great attitude, Craftsman will give you the opportunity to shine.

My apprenticeship went very smoothly – at a pace I was comfortable with but challenging when needed. I succeeded because I had the right guidance and leadership. Craftsman proves the stereotype of working in a male-dominated trade wrong. The people I’ve worked with have always treated me with kindness and respect. The diversity makes it a very fun environment to work in.

It’s rare to find a company where you feel appreciated. Craftsman makes me feel like they care, and they show it in many ways.

As one of many long-term employees at Craftsman, I’ve been here for 18 years, working under – and with – some great leaders and mentors. What’s kept me here is being part of a family-style culture, and being treated with respect by senior management. The quality of my experience has been excellent, and I know training is always available if I wish to continue my career growth. Senior management has always had my best interests at heart.
