Were Walking to Cure Diabetes
The cure for juvenile (Type 1) diabetes has come a lot closer to realization since the discovery of insulin by University of Toronto researchers Banting and Best in 1921. But diabetes remains one of the leading causes of death by disease in the world, and particularly threatens children, making them insulin-dependent for life and at risk of serious complications from other illnesses. Last year, Craftsman Collision employees and management contributed $10,000 to the Walk for Diabetes, a fund-raising effort organized by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada (JDRF). Thats Craftsman President Bill Hatswell in the photo, presenting the cheque to JDRFs Deborah Cushing. This years fund-raiser the Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held between May 29 and June 12 in Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, the Fraser Valley, Victoria and Kamloops. Were a Gold-level sponsor for every one of these walks, and hoping to meet or beat our last years total. If you'd like to help, we are gladly accepting donations at every one of our shops. Or e-mail us at info@craftsmancollision.com. |
