Craftsman doubles last year’s total on Walk to Cure Diabetes

More than 200,000 Canadians suffer from Juveline (Type 1) Diabetes — some of them people we at Craftsman Collision see or work with every day, like Controller Rick Porter and former shop manager John Longhurst. Our friends and relatives who suffer from Diabetes are a big reason why we so strongly support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada (JDRF).

This year’s JDRF campaign in BC — the 2005 Walk to Cure Diabetes — ran from May 15 to June 18 across BC. Craftsman staff and contributors took part in the segments in Kelowna, the Fraser Valley, Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaimo. They are expected to have raised $20,000 in donations once all the pledges are returned — double last year’s $10,000.

Diabetes remains one of the leading causes of death by disease in the world, and particularly threatens children, making them insulin-dependent for life and at risk of serious complications from other illnesses. We are pleased and proud to do our part in helping to eradicate this disease.
